How to Create a Database in Automator

In the Mac OS X operating system, the Automator application allows you to program basic workflow scripts for repetitive tasks that you do again and again. While you can add in-built commands in Automator, the Mac OS X operating system does not have a database application installed by default. Therefore, you will have to use your third-party application and the Automator "Watch Me Do" feature. Watch Me Do records your screen actions and adds those to the Automator plugin.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Applications," then "Automator." Double-click "Workflow."

    • 2

Click "Record" in the top-right of the screen. This starts recording actions.

    • 3

Open your database software and create a new database. This stage will vary depending on what database software you use.

    • 4

Click the "Stop Recording" icon in the floating Automator window when you have finished creating the database. This will switch back to Automator with your recorded database creation in place.

    • 5

Press "Cmd+S" to save your workflow. Choose a name and location and click "Save."
