How to Lock Up Chemicals at Home
Chemicals can pose a threat to the safety of your home. Although most chemicals play a role in cleaning your home and keeping it in shape, they are also dangerous if digested or used incorrectly. For these reasons, take all possible safety precautions and lock the chemicals up to keep those you love safe.

1
Close all dangerous products according the container specifications. Unsafe chemicals traditionally contain child-safe packaging. Always seal the chemicals correctly, whether you take your eyes off them for a month or a minute.
-
2
Store chemicals high enough so that children can't reach them, and out of the way of adults with a disability or condition such as Alzheimer's. For example, a cupboard in a bathroom the adult rarely visits is ideal.

3
Install locks that require a key. Keep the key on your personal keyring or hidden somewhere that only qualified adults know about.
-
4
Lock chemicals away immediately after each use, but complete the task at hand before locking the chemicals away. For example, don't leave a bucket of bleach out while you lock away the bleach. Take the bucket with you, or keep the bleach in sight until you dispose of the bucket's contents.
