How to Troubleshoot a GE Profile Oven Code Lock

How to Troubleshoot a GE Profile Oven Code Lock thumbnail
GE Profile ovens have locking functions for safety as well as convenience.

GE Profile ovens come fitted with a digital feedback display that tracks oven settings as well as communicating operating status to the homeowner. GE uses a series of short phrases or codes to describe problems with the oven's functioning or with failure of the controls themselves. The lock mechanism can be triggered as a safety default by certain events but can also be purposefully set and disengaged by the homeowner as desired. Learning the few basic procedures and knowing what to expect as normal makes troubleshooting and navigating your Profile oven locking mechanism a breeze. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Disengage GE "Controls Lock Out" feature, to reanimate the control panel, by pressing the "Clear/Off" button down for 3 seconds until the normal oven control display appears.

    • 2

Re-engage the lockout feature by pressing the "Clear/Off" button for 3 seconds until the display reads "Control Locked Out." When this feature is engaged the only control that remains active is the "Clear/Off" button.

    • 3

Know that when you engage the "Clean" button the oven will automatically lock for the length of the cleaning cycle and remain locked, displaying "Oven Locked," until the cycle completes and the oven has cooled to a safe temperature. The remaining time until the completion of the cleaning cycle will show on the display but the locked time for cooling is added onto this cycle time and can vary depending on the length of the clean program you chose.

Remove a flashing "Lock Door" signal on the display by simply closing the oven door and allowing the automatic lock to fasten.
