How to Get Friend Suggestions to Work on Your Facebook Business Page

Get "People You May Know," formerly known as "Friend Suggestions," to work on a Facebook profile page you created on behalf of your business to get Facebook friend suggestions culled from your email contacts list. Facebook pages don't support friend suggestions -- or friends at all -- so the only business owners who can access this feature are those who have created personal profiles on behalf of their businesses, a practice Facebook has shunned since it began introducing pages.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the business's Facebook profile. Click the "Friends" button in the left sidebar, then choose "Find Friends."

    • 2

Select the name of your business email provider, the input the email address you use for the business. Click "Find Friends" to pull up a list of people from your contact list who also use Facebook.

    • 3

Return to the Facebook homepage and resume using the site as normal. Whenever you pull up the news feed, Facebook pulls random people it found using "Friend Finder" and shows their names and profile pictures under the heading "People You May Know" along the right side of the screen.

    • 4

Click the "Add as Friend" button underneath the name of anyone you want to add as a friend. Wait for the person to accept the friend request, then begin interacting with him using your Facebook business page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although friend suggestions don't work on Facebook fan pages, it is possible to invite members of your Facebook friends list to become fans of the page. Click the "Invite Friends" button on the right side of the Facebook fan page to get started.
