Instructions

    • 1

Find old quilts at secondhand shops, flea markets or garage sales. Have quilts professionally dry cleaned because they are often very delicate. If they are very fragile, antique quilts, it is best to soak them in a tub of cold water and gently agitate then dry on towels.

    • 2

Fold quilts to fit on your armoire shelves. If an old quilt has a damaged or torn area, fold it to hide the tear.

    • 3

Stack quilts inside your armoire, laying them on top of each other without pressing the bottom quilt flat. Depending on the width of your armoire, you can make two or three stacks per shelf.

    • 4

Hang two of your favorite quilts over the top of the open armoire door. Stagger the quilts, so the one on the bottom hangs lower than the one on top.

    • 5

Set a large basket on top of your armoire to complete your country look.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once or twice per year, on a warm, dry day, take your quilts outside and hang them out to air. This will keep them fresh and avoid a musty smell.
