How to Make Presents for a Boy thumbnail
Consider making a homemade gift for the boy in your life.

It might seem difficult to create a homemade gift for a boy, as many of them are interested in electronics, video games and other things that would be difficult to replicate. But there are still many items that you can make when a boy in your life has a birthday or another occasion approaching. Think about the activities the boy enjoys doing and take those as inspiration when you begin thinking about the gift you will create.

Instructions

  1. Crayon Shapes

    • 1

Choose a variety of different colored crayons. Use crayons that are very different, such as yellow and blue, so that when you melt them the colors won't blend together too much.

    • 2

Remove the labels from the crayons and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Place the bowl inside the microwave and heat it on high for about 20 seconds. Continue doing this at 20-second increments until the crayons are melted and smooth. Stir them a bit if you need to, but not too much, as you want the different colors to be swirled, rather than combined.

    • 3

Pour the melted crayons into molds that are meant for making candies. You can find these in baking shops or craft stores and they are shaped like all sorts of things, such as cars, animals or trains. Allow the crayons to completely harden, then remove the crayons from the molds.

    • 4

Continue making crayon shapes until you have your desired amount. Give them to the boy, along with several coloring books.

    Cookies

    • 5

Stir together a box of sugar cookie mix according to the directions on the box.

    • 6

Turn the sugar cookie mix out onto a clean surface and roll the mixture out to about a 1/4-inch thickness.

    • 7

Press cookie cutters in your desired shapes into the dough and place the cookies onto a cookie sheet. Bake the cookies for the directed time, then remove them from the oven and allow them to cool completely.

    • 8

Use a frosting knife to frost the cookies with royal icing in the color of your choice. Allow the icing to harden completely.

    • 9

Place the cookies in a cellophane bag and tie it closed with a ribbon.

    Summer Gift Basket

    • 10

Use a sand pail as the base of your summer gift basket.

    • 11

Place sand toys, such as shovels and sand-castle molds, inside the box. Add other summer or beach items, such as sunglasses, flip-flops, an uninflated float, sunscreen and other items that the child might like to play with.

    • 12

Wrap the sand pail with cellophane and tie the gift closed with ribbon.
