How to Kill the Magic Pot in "Final Fantasy XIII"

Once weakened, the Magic Pot dies in just a few hits.

When you reach the "Magic Pot" enemy in "Final Fantasy XIII," he seems almost invincible, but the creature can be beaten with a simple trick. The "Magic Pot" enemy appears in several other "Final Fantasy" games, and in most games, he is defeated with the same tactic -- "Final Fantasy XI" is one of the rare exceptions, as the Magic Pot has no distinct weakness in "FFXI." By the time you reach a "Magic Pot" foe, you should have more than enough strength to kill him after you learn the trick to weaken him.

• Doctor's Code item or Elixir

Instructions

1. Upgrade your Doctor Code to its maximum level. There are four of these items in the game, and you get two of them early on through natural story progression. By the time you reach a Magic Pot, you should have one in your inventory. Fight weaker enemies to level up your characters if necessary.

2. Dismantle the Doctor Code once it is fully upgraded. When you dismantle the maxed-out Doctor Code into its component parts, you are given an Elixir. Elixirs are the Magic Pot's weakness. This is the only way to get an Elixir besides opening a treasure chest near the very end of the game.

3. Enter a battle with the Magic Pot, but do not attack him. He will ask you for an Elixir before either side strikes a blow.

4. Give the Magic Pot your Elixir.

5. Use the "Steal" skill to take back the Elixir. Elixirs are rare items, so it's best to get it back before beginning the battle.

6. Attack the Magic Pot. Even after stealing it back, the Elixir greatly weakens the Magic Pot, and he should die with just a few basic attacks.
