How to Customize a Spreadsheet to PLC/O Electrical AutoCAD
AutoCAD Electrical provides tools to design programmable logic controllers, or PLCs. Programmable logic controllers administer simple tasks from input data of sensors and entered commands, creating output signals to automated machine controls. The PLC I/O tool allows the electrical engineer or designer to draft the ladders and modules for the PLCs or import the PLC I/O data from spreadsheets. When importing a spreadsheet, the ladders and modules are inserted automatically from the values provided on the spreadsheet.

Create the Spreadsheet

Open spreadsheet application and select "New" in the File menu. Click the first cell in the first row of the spreadsheet.

Enter the required module data titles into the row, one title per cell. The required module data titles are: "Module Part Numbers (Code)," "Address (ADDR)," "Rack Numbers (R)," "Group Numbers (G)," "Slot Numbers (S)," "Remote Terminal Panel (RTP)," "Wire Numbers," "Module's Tag," "Module's Installation," "Module's Location," "Description 1-5 (DESC1-DESC5)" and "Voltage/Input/Output (VOLTAGE)."

Enter the inline component data titles into the first row, one title per cell, next to the module data titles. The inline component data titles are: "Tag (DnTAG)," "Description (DnDESC)," "Block (DnBLK)," "Location (DnLOC)," "Installation," "Manufacturer," "Catalog" and "Assembly"

Enter the module data and inline component data values and strings into the subsequent rows, under the first row titles.

Select "Save As" in the File menu and provide a file name and location in the Save As window. Press the "Save" button.
Import the Spreadsheet into AutoCAD Electrical PLC I/O

Open AutoCAD Electrical and select "New" in the File menu.

Select the "Insert PLC (Parametric)" tool button on the Import panel and select the Spreadsheet to PLC I/O Utility tool. Select the PLC spreadsheet and click the "Open" button.

Click the "Browse" button to use the default PLC I/O settings. Use the default settings in the Module Placement list.

Enter a drawing title, such as "PLC1.dwg" in the Starting field. Select "Free Run" in the Drawing File Creation list and click the "Start" button. The spreadsheet automatically converts to a PLC drawing.
