How to Use a YouTube Background Template Using Paint

Use a custom YouTube background template you create with Microsoft Paint to customize your YouTube channel without having to download and install third-party software onto your computer. YouTube automatically shrinks or enlarges images you upload as background images to fit the dimensions of your channel, which allows you to focus on the quality of your background image, rather than getting its size just right.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows orb. Type "Paint" into the search box and press "Enter." Click the "Resize" button, and then input pixel dimensions for your document. A typical background size is 1,024 by 768 pixels.

    • 2

Draw your YouTube channel background using Microsoft Paint. Click the "Text" tool to create a branded background or one with a logo, or simply paint and draw for a more artistic look. Click the "Save" icon, and then give your file a name and save it to your hard drive in JPG format.

    • 3

Log in to YouTube. Click your account name and click "Channel." Click "Themes and Colors," and then click the "Choose File" button next to "Background Image." Navigate to your file and click "Open." Click "Save Changes" if you're pleased with the way the background looks.
