Make a colorful tail or edging for your kite.

Making and flying your own kite is a common activity on a windy day. After assembling your kite, add some flair with a quick and basic crocheted edging. This pattern is suitable for the experienced crocheter. Practice stitches such as chain and double crochet before beginning this project. Be sure to use a lightweight yarn, otherwise you will weigh down your kite. Likewise, you will want to keep the edging quite narrow. If your kite will only be for decorative purposes, experiment with a wider or more elaborate trim.

Double crochet five stitches in the third chain from the hook. Skip the next two chains and single crochet the next chain stitch. Skip two chain stitches, double crochet five in the next chain, skip two chains, then single crochet in the next chain. Repeat across and finish off.
