Instructions

Paint the boy's walls so that they coordinate with the extreme sports theme. One option is to choose one of the traditional colors associated with extreme sports, such as red, silver or black. Another option is to have a graffiti artist paint the walls with graffiti or have an extreme sports mural of skaters and bikers painted onto a focal wall.

Choose simple bedding for the room, such as plain sheets and a black, silver or red comforter. Add pillows in a contrasting color.

    • 3

Mount skateboards on the wall and use them as shelving. Screw two metal shelf brackets to the bottom of the skateboard. Place the L-shaped brackets so that they are each about an inch away from the wheels, toward the center of the skateboard bottom. Place the brackets so that one side of the L shape will be flush with the wall. Hold the skateboard against the wall, making sure it is level, and screw the shelf brackets to the wall, holding the skateboard in place. Repeat with as many skateboards as you desire.

Select t-shirts that feature the boy's favorite extreme sports brands or stars. Use small pins to mount each T-shirt in large shadowbox frames, found at most craft stores. Make sure that the T-shirt is wrinkle-free and centered when you place it in the frame. Framing it this way, rather than cutting it, means that the boy can remove the shirt and wear it in the future if he chooses. Hang the frames on the wall above his bed or in a collection on an opposite wall.
