Friendship bracelets can be worn on the wrist or ankle.

Friendship bracelets are given by one friend to another as a reminder of a close friendship. Homemade friendship bracelets add a much more personal touch than ones that you simply buy from a store. You can make a friendship bracelet decorated with "x" and "o" to symbolize hugs and kisses from embroidery string weaved together. You can then give the finished design to a special friend .

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange three pieces of embroidery string of one color and two of another color side by side. Fold the group in half and make a loop. Feed the loose end of the group though the loop and pull the knot tight. Feed a safety pin through the knot and attach it to your pants as an anchor.

    • 2

Arrange the strings spread out with the two cords of one color on the outside edges and the other cords in the middle.

    • 3

Feed the left-hand cord (L1) around the cord immediately to the right and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the next two cords to the right. Feed the cord on the far right-hand side (R1) over and around the cord to the left and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the next two cords to the left.

    • 4

Tie L1 which is now in the middle of the string group around the cord immediately to the right and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the next two cords to the right. Tie R1 which is now in the middle of the string group around the cord immediately to the right and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the next two cords to the right. You will now have an "X" shape in the bracelet pattern.

    • 5

Take the right-hand strand in the middle. Feed it around the strand to the right of it and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the four strands to the right of it. Take the left-hand strand in the middle. Feed it around the strand to the left of it and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the four strands to the left of it. Repeat this step four times so that the outer colored strands are now in the middle.

    • 6

Feed L1 around the strand immediately to the left. Feed it back through the loop and pull the knot tight. Tie it around each strand until L1 sits on the left again. Repeat this process on R1 to the right.

    • 7

Feed L1 around the cord immediately to the right and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the next two cords to the right. Feed R1 over and around the cord to the left and back through the loop. Pull the knot tight. Repeat this on the next two cords to the left.

    • 8

Repeat the process until the bracelet is as long as you want to make it. Take the cords at the end and form a loop. Feed the loose ends of the cords through the loop and pull the knot tight to secure the design. Remove the safety pin.
