How to Troubleshoot an Admiral Dryer That Won't Dry Clothes

The Maytag Admiral is a dryer that provides a variety of drying settings for your delicate, casual or heavy fabrics. It also includes an energy preferred automatic setting to reduce energy use, while providing enough heat to dry your clothes quickly. If the dryer is on and is set to the appropriate setting, but does not dry your clothing, the issue may be caused by excessive lint buildup in the dryer. If your lint trap is clear, a blown fuse in your home may prevent the dryer from providing adequate heat. A persistent problem with the dryer's heat setting requires a professional service technician to repair the dryer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the machine's temperature dial to "High/Heavy" and adjust the left dryer dial to "Very Dry" to determine if the problem is due to improper dial settings.

    • 2

Set the left dryer dial to "Off" and pull out the lint screen located at the top of the machine. Rub your fingers against the lint screen to collect the lint, and dispose of the lint in the trash. Insert the lint screen back into the dryer and set the dryer's dial to "Very Dry" to test the machine.

Check your home's circuit breaker for a tripped circuit or blown fuse. The Admiral electric dryer uses two fuses in order to run efficiently, and if one of the fuses burns out the dryer will run but won't properly heat up. The circuit may automatically turn itself off, or trip, due to too many electric devices attempting to use energy on one line.

Unplug the dryer and other electric devices near the dryer, and flip the circuit switch on your home's circuit breaker to restore energy. Once flipped, plug the dryer back into the electrical outlet and push the start button to start the drying cycle.
