How to Add a Vocal to Instrumentals in Adobe Soundbooth CS3
Adobe SoundBooth can record and play both vocal and instrumental tracks. You can record vocals by connecting a microphone and pre-amplifier, if necessary, to your computer, then setting up a new audio track inside SoundBooth. SoundBooth allows you to create an unlimited number of vocal audio tracks. Recording setup only takes a few minutes to complete.

1
Connect your microphone to the sound card. If you're using a dynamic microphone with a 1/8-inch plug, insert the plug into the "Line In" jack on the computer. If your microphone requires a pre-amplifier, connect the microphone to an input on the pre-amplifier using an XLR cable, then connect the pre-amp to the computer using a 1/8-inch audio cable. Turn on the pre-amp and turn its volume up.

Open Adobe SoundBooth. Click "File" and select "Record." Click the drop-down bar in the "Device" menu and select your microphone or pre-amplifier from the list. Select a sample rate for the new recording. Select "Stereo" or "Mono" for the track.
