Hopefully, your new church will do good in the community.

Starting a new church is a spiritual and benevolent undertaking, but there are some practical steps that must be taken as well. You've got to get the word out to potential members if your church is going to succeed. If you're putting together flyers to announce your new church opening, place them in community hot spots where potential members are likely to see, such as libraries, grocery stores, doctor's offices, coffee shops and gas stations. Also, try announcing your opening on social networking sites, like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.

Gather the details you want to include on your church flyer. Do you want to simply announce the opening of your new church to the surrounding community? Do you want invite members to your first service? Are you asking for volunteers to work inside your new church? Get clear about the specific purpose of your flyer.

Decide how you want your flyer to look. Choose colors, font, typeface and pictures that convey the personality of your church. Search the Internet for templates that match your tastes. Companies such as ShareFaith offer hundreds of church-themed flyer templates for download.

Decide how you want to phrase the news about your new church. You can grab attention with a catchy phrase, or use a popular scripture, like "Upon this rock I build by church." (Matthew 16:18) Or, start with a straight-forward announcement, such as, "New Church Opening." However you decide to present the news, make sure the words are spelled correctly, and the font is large enough to read at a distance. Include other important details as well, such as the address of the church, the pastor's name, the date of the grand opening, times of church services, and a contact name, phone number and email. If additional information is available on the church's website, include that information as well.

Construct your flyer, using the resources at your disposal. If you have a printer hooked up to your computer, create your flyer using a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word, Pages, WordPerfect or OpenOffice. Then, print off your flyer. If you don't have a printer, go to a professional copier/printer and describe your flyer idea. Work with a sales associate to come up with the flyer you visualized.
