Instructions

    • 1

Mix white tile mortar and sanded grout in equal amounts until it is the consistency of pudding. Do the mixing in a 5-gallon bucket using a drill with a mixing attachment.

    • 2

Remove the furniture from around the wall you want to apply the brick veneer to. Tape off the baseboard of the wall using painter's tape. Lay a plastic tarp over the floor and tape it to the baseboard.

    • 3

Apply 1/2 to 3/4 inch of the mortar mix to the back of a brick veneer. Press the prepared brick to the wall. Continue to press until the mortar oozes out from the sides of the brick. Use a trowel to remove excess mortar. Apply the second brick in the same matter. The excess mortar forms the grout between the bricks.

Lay the entire first row of bricks. Work on the second layer, staggering the joints between the bricks. Use a chisel and a hammer to break the side bricks. To measure, lay the first full brick of the second row. Hold another veneer against the corner of the wall, on top of the brick you just laid. Mark a line across the width of this brick 1/4 inch from the beginning of the brick below it. Break the brick at this line, and the smaller section will fit perfectly in the space in the row below.

Continue to lay the brick veneer in staggered rows. Allow the mortar to dry completely before removing the tape and tarp, and replacing the furniture.
