How to Make Funny Bridal Shower Cards

How to Make Funny Bridal Shower Cards thumbnail
Funny bridal cards add to the fun, festive atmosphere of a shower.

Handmade bridal shower cards add a very personal touch to a gift, but a funny handmade card is even better. More casual than the wedding itself, a bridal shower is the perfect wedding event for relaxing, sharing personal jokes and laughing with friends. When creating your funny bridal shower card, keep your friend's sense of humor in mind and don't be afraid to use personal, inside jokes.

Instructions

    • 1

Search for a funny punchline for your card or come up with the punchline yourself. The design of your card depends on the punchline, so don't try to start without it. Consider lighthearted punchlines such as, "I'm jealous it's your wedding because I wanted a new toaster," "Hooray for wedding cake!" or "Marriage lets you annoy that one special person for the rest of your life."

    • 2

Fold the card paper in half. Cut contrasting paper so that it is 1/2-inch smaller than the face of the card on each side. Use double-sided tape to adhere the contrasting paper to the card. Make sure the contrasting paper is centered on the card before firmly pressing it down.

    • 3

Type the text of the card on a word processing program using an interesting font. Increase the font size to at least 16 point. Print the text on vellum, scrapbook paper, card stock or regular printer paper. You will probably have to insert specialty papers through the printer's paper feed. Trim the text with scissors so that it will fit on your card.

    • 4

Put double-sided tape on the back of the text paper and place it either on the front of the card or the inside of the card, depending on the look you want. If you decide to place the text on the inside of the card, cut out another image for the front of the card. Wedding bells, hearts and rings are all good bridal-related images for the front of the card.

    • 5

Add embellishments to the front of the card, such as ribbons, buttons, beads, eyelets or metallic threads. If you add ribbons or metallic threads, use a hole punch to make holes for threading them through the card. Attach buttons and beads with craft glue. Eyelets usually come in kits that contain a tool for affixing them.

Sign your card, adding funny and casual remarks to the bride. Insert the card into an envelope that matches the paper you used, and add a few embellishments to the front of the envelope.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make several cards at a time so you always have a spare when you get invited to a bridal shower.
