How to Find the Site ID on Facebook

When you create a Facebook account, a string of numbers associated with your account is automatically generated. This series of numbers is your site ID on Facebook. Some users prefer to use "vanity" URLs of their own creation that replace the site ID in their profile URL. You can easily find the site ID of any standard Facebook profile by looking at the URL of the profile page. If the profile has a vanity URL, such as a user's name, you can still find the site ID by looking at the URL for one of the user's photos or by utilizing the "What Is My ID?" Facebook application.

Instructions

    • 1

Click a Facebook user's name to open her profile in your browser. If she hasn't selected a vanity URL on Facebook, look at the profile URL in the browser's address bar. The number that appears immediately after "profile.php?id=" and before "&ref=" is the user's Facebook site ID.

Visit a user's photo album if her profile has a vanity URL that does not display the site ID. Click on any photo and look at the photo's URL. The number that appears immediately after "photo.php?fbid=" and before the next ampersand ("&") in the URL is the user's Facebook site ID.

Use the "What Is My ID" app to find your own site ID and those of your friends on Facebook. While logged in to Facebook, browse to "apps.facebook.com/whatismyid/" and click on the blue "Allow" button. The app immediately displays your site ID. To view the site IDs of other Facebook users, click on the "Click Here" link in the app page and scroll to your contact's name. The user's site ID displays in the same row on the right.
