How to Change the Element on a Frigidaire Electric Range

A Frigidaire electric range has four heating elements on the surface for cooking food. Each coiled element plugs into a power socket below the range surface through a hole in the drip pan. Range elements can burn out with age or sustain damage, such as liquids spilled directly on the element surface. Buy a replacement element from Frigidaire or a hardware store. Installing the new element takes less than a minute and no tools are necessary. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off all burners on the Frigidaire and wait for the range to cool completely if it has been in use.

    • 2

Lift the defective burner from the edge opposite the connection socket where the two burner prongs attach to the range. Pull the burner straight back to disconnect it from the socket.

    • 3

Line up the two round prongs on the new element with the holes in the socket and push straight in.

    • 4

Turn the burner control knob for the new element and test to ensure it is plugged in properly and begins heating.
