Stream media to your television from your computer.

Watching movies or TV shows from your computer's monitor has its drawbacks. For instance, only one person can usually comfortably view the media due to a monitor's relatively small size. Media streaming buffs often bypass their monitor in these scenarios by connecting their computer to an high definition TV using only an HDMI cable. HDMI cables provide both audio and video to your television, negating the need for using multiple wires to get everything running properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your computer and HDTV.

    • 2

Set your HDTV's input to HDMI. Most TVs have an "Input" or "HDMI" button on the remote or the TV. If you press "Input," press the button until "HDMI" appears on the screen. No picture displays because you have not yet connected the TV to the PC.

    • 3

Connect either side of your HDMI cable into your PC's HDMI port. Connect the opposite end into your TV's HDMI port. Your HDTV displays your PC's video output after a few seconds.
