How to Leave the Music Note in Facebook

Leave music notes for your Facebook friends by using alt codes.

Let your Facebook friends know when you have a song in your heart by leaving music notes in your status updates or in comments on their Walls. You can type music notes by using the corresponding alt codes. Alt codes are recognized by many programs and websites including Facebook. When you type the music note alt codes on Facebook, you can leave a single eighth note or two connected eighth notes.

Instructions

1. Click in the status update or comment text field on Facebook. Make sure your Num Lock is on. If it is not, press the "Num Lock" key.

2. Press and hold the "Alt" key on your keyboard.

3. Press "1" and "3" on your number pad for a single eighth note. Press "1" and "4" on your number pad for connected eighth notes.

4. Release the "Alt" key. The note or notes appears on the screen.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are on a laptop and do not have a separate number pad, look at the keys on the right side of your keyboard. Several of the keys have tiny numbers printed under the letters. When you press the "Num Lock" key, these keys act as your number pad.

• If you do not have a "Num Lock" key, press and hold the "Fn" key and continue from step 2.

• If none of these options work, you can copy and paste the notes into your Facebook status or comments.
