How to Install a Multiswitch With Primestar Dish
In 1999, the Hughes Electronic Corp. purchased Primestar and DirecTV acquired all the Primestar customers. A Primestar dish can still be used to receive DirecTV with the use of a DirecTV LNB (Low Noise Blocker) attached to the dish. Installing a multiswitch to a Primestar dish will allow you to combine the information coming from the LNB and send it to multiple receivers connected to televisions in your house. Installing a multiswitch to your Primestar dish is the same as installing a multiswitch to a DirecTV dish.

Locate the coaxial cable that is running into your home. Remove the coaxial cable from the box and twist it onto the output on the multiswitch.

Take the cables coming from the dish and run them to the multiswitch. Depending on the LNB on the Primestar dish, there could be two or more cables running from the dish. You will need all the cables coming from the dish to the multiswitches location.
