How to Make a Harry Potter Friendship Bracelet
Celebrate your passion for the Harry Potter series by creating custom bracelets to share with friends. Determine how many bracelets you need to make so that no friends will feel left out. Then discuss Harry Potter amongst your circle of friends to determine which characters and objects from the series are popular. After your discussion, make a note if certain friends expressed strong preferences for characters, Hogwarts houses, or magical creatures.

Designing a Bracelet
-
1
Draw designs of Harry Potter charms on paper before you begin sculpting the charms with the polymer clay. Use your drawings to determine the colors of clay you need to make your Harry Potter charms.
-
2
Purchase the necessary colors of polymer clay from a local craft supply store. Buy the same brand of clay to ensure the texture and heating instructions are uniform for all your colors.
-
-
3
Mold the clay into your desired charms. Customize the bracelets by making each charm different, or make several of the same charm so your friends get the same bracelet.
-
4
Make a loop at the top of each charm with the polymer clay so you can hang the charms on the bracelet later.
-
5
Read the heating instructions on the package of your polymer clay. Heat the charms in the oven and allow the charms to cool completely before moving to the next step.
-
6
Measure the wire for each friend's bracelet. If your friends are roughly your size, wrap the bracelet around your own wrist. Cut the wire with jewelry pliers slightly larger than your desired bracelet size. Make a small loop at one end of the wire using your pliers.
-
7
Arrange your Harry Potter charms by interspersing them with regular beads onto the wire. When you are finished, make small hook with your pliers to close the bracelet.
-
8
Gather your friends together and distribute your friendship bracelets.
Creating Harry Potter Charms
-
9
Choose gold and crimson beads to represent Harry Potter's house at Hogwarts, the Gryffindor House. Making a friendship bracelet based around a particular character and his or her corresponding Hogwarts house helps narrow down which charms to use for your friendship bracelet.
-
10
Fashion a simple red heart from polymer clay to further represent the qualities of Gryffindor. When the Sorting Hat assigns Harry Potter to the Gryffindor house in the first book, the hat declares that members of Gryffindor are brave at heart.
-
11
Use gray, black, and red polymer clay to create the sword of Godric Gryffindor, the founder of the Gryffindor house. The sword also appears to Harry Potter during his time of need. First create the sword blade with gray clay. Next, make handle using black clay. Finally, make tiny balls with red clay to represent rubies. Attach the rubies to the handle of the sword.
-
12
Take gold and white clay to create a golden snitch, the ball Harry Potter catches during his quidditch matches. First roll gold clay into a ball. Next, make two wings from the white clay and attach them to the ball.
-
13
Use brown and yellow clay to make the broom Harry Potter uses to play quidditch. Make the handle from brown clay and the straw from yellow clay.
-
14
Create a simple lightening bolt with yellow clay. The lightening bolt stands for the distinctive mark on Harry Potter's forehead.
-
15
Remember to attach small polymer clay loops to each charm to string the bracelets on the wire.
