How to Remove a Kenmore Laundry Center Agitator
Kenmore Laundry Center washing machines are compact units that include a washing machine and a dryer. The washer has an agitator in the center of the wash tub, which is used to move the clothes around the tub during the wash cycle. There are many reasons that you may be required to remove the agitator, such as if the agitator itself breaks, the cam inside of the agitator fails or if you must remove the wash tub. Turn off the appliance's breaker in your service panel.

Remove the dispenser from the top of the agitator. On many models, the dispenser has a lock ring that must be lifted to remove the dispenser. On other models, the dispenser lifts straight off of the agitator.

Remove the agitator cap by prying it away from the agitator using a flat-head screwdriver.

Remove the dust cap, if one is installed in the agitator shaft.

Remove the agitator bolt using a socket wrench with extension.

Lift the agitator off of the drive shaft and out of the wash tub.
