How to Make Flaming Text in After Effects

Adobe After Effects is a digital compositing program, part of Adobe's graphical manipulation Creative Suite. The program is mostly used for the production of digitally animated effects on 2D images, as well as video transcoding. It is also suitable for computer animation, due to an extensive keyframing and layers system built into the program. Creating flaming text is an example of generating animation in After Effects.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a new composition, then type in the text to which you want to apply the effect. Click on the text, and then select the "Layer" menu, and the "Pre-Compose" option to make the text into its own layer. Change the layers mode to "Add," then rename the layer to "Flames."

    • 2

Click the "Effects" preset tab, and add the following effects to the "Flames" layer: "Particle Systems II," "Vector Blur," "Turbulent Displace" and "Glow." Each one of these effects has individual settings that can be previewed and tweaked to your liking.

Merge the text and the additional effects layers on the "Layers" menu, then select the "Render" panel to render the frames of the animation, which can be exported in a number of video formats.
