DIY Like Animoto Effect

Animoto is an online service that allows users to combine their photos and videos with music files to create animated slide shows. The process is fairly easy, but if you want to create anything longer than 30 seconds, it is not free. If you want to achieve a similar result without having to pay for it, there is a way you can do the same thing with the Windows Movie Maker application that comes installed on most PCs. If you don't have Movie Maker, you can download and install it.

Instructions

    • 1

Load all the images, videos clips and music files you want to use onto your computer, saving them all to the same folder so you can easily find them.

    • 2

Start the Movie Maker application. Go to the panel on the upper left and click on "Import" video. In the dialog, browse to and open the video clips you loaded. Use the "Import Pictures" and "Import Audio or Music" functions to bring in those files as well. They will appear at the collection bin at the top.

    • 3

Drag each of the video clips and pictures into the timeline in the order you want them to appear.

    • 4

Go to the panel on the upper left and click on "View Video Transitions." The transition choices will appear at the top.

    • 5

Drag the transition you want to the "Transition" track in the timeline. Position it between the two clips to which you want to apply it. Repeat this for all the other clips.

    • 6

Drag the music file you want to use to the "Audio/Music" track. Click "Play" in the preview on the upper right to view the result. Save your work.
