How to Troubleshoot Streamlining From Netflix
When Netflix started in the late 1990s, it was a DVD only service. With the advent of streaming media, however, many people enjoy watching instant movies and television on their home computer. This streaming video is designed to run smoothly without much trouble, but if you are having problems you can take several troubleshooting steps.

1
Check you account to make sure you can access streaming videos. In 2011, Netflix changed its policy on some account levels, separating at-home DVDs and streaming videos into two separate services.
-
2
Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements to stream movies. Your computer requires a 1 Ghz processor, 512MB of RAM and 3GB of free hard drive space.
-
-
3
Check you wireless Internet connection to ensure that you have a strong signal. If the signal is weak, try restarting the modem and wireless router. If this does not help, you may have damaged equipment.
-
4
Contact your Internet provider to see if there are faster internet packages available. Faster bandwidth usually means better streaming. Netflix recommends a minimum speed of 500kbps.
-
5
Set your Netflix account to "No HD" to reduce the amount of bandwidth required.
-
6
Update your Internet browser to the latest version. Some older versions have difficulty streaming media.
-
7
Close any open programs that you are not using that may reduce your computer's speed. Shut down any additional Internet applications as well, such as streaming news or online gaming.
-
8
Delete any old files, cookies and other cached Internet data. Too many of these files can slow your computer's performance.
