1
Paint the sides of the armoire in a bright contrasting color. For example, if the base color is black, paint the sides a vivid red; for a brown armoire, choose a turquoise or royal blue. For a white armoire, choose an accent color that is used prominently in the room.

2
Choose a design to stencil on the sides of the armoire. Select a design that suits the theme of the room. For example, a curling, floral design would work well in a shabby chic or Victorian-styled room. Geometric designs would fit a more contemporary or modern room.

3
Place removable decals on either side of the armoire if you don't want to paint the furniture and will be changing the decor scheme of the room often. For instance, decals of baby blocks or small teddy bears are fitting for a child's armoire. When you change the decor in the room to reflect the age of the child, you can replace the decals with subjects of interest to the child, such as trains, sports, fairies or princesses.

4
Position tall plants, either real or artificial, on the sides of the armoire to bring more attention to the furniture piece and add an air of elegance to the room. An armoire in a Victorian-style den will stand out even more when you flank it with topiaries. Or choose green palm plants to complement a brown armoire in a room with a tropical theme.
