How to Make Your PlayStation 3 Recognize a New Controller
The PlayStation 3 provides support for wireless controllers as well as the classic wired controller. Unlike a wired controller that you can plug in and use instantly, you must set up a wireless controller by pairing it to the console. With the controller and console paired, you can assign the controller a number and begin playing your game from the comfort of your couch without having wires stretched across the floor.
