How to Make a Handheld Loom
Learning to weave on a handheld loom teaches not only creativity but dexterity and hand-eye coordination. You can use a handheld loom to create small projects such as potholders, as well as larger projects such as individual blocks for a larger bedspread. 1
Use corrugated cardboard, and the spacing is done for you. Measure with a ruler across the top and bottom of a small piece of sturdy cardboard that fits in the palm of your hand, and make marks 1/4 inch apart with a marker.
-
2
Cut into the cardboard on the marks with scissors, creating notches to string your loom.
-
-
3
Slide the end of a length of yarn into the first slit on the bottom of either the right or left side of the cardboard.
-
4
String your loom up and down, winding around the notches to make the vertical warp of your loom.
