How to Hang a Net Canopy in a Nursery
Before your new arrival, the nursery needs decorations. One way to spice up the new baby's bedroom is to place a bed canopy over the crib. Bed canopies, or bed nets, add a bit of glamor to the room and keep out summertime mosquitoes. The material is light enough to let air in and the morning sun shine through. Bed canopies hang from the ceiling so they drape over the crib. Once the child grows into a bed, simply place the new bed under the bed canopy or move it to another part of the room. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place the stepladder where the crib or bed goes. Climb the ladder and dangle the bed canopy from the ceiling to make sure it fits without hitting any of the walls.
-
2
Mark the ceiling with a small dot. Place the dot where the canopy belongs.

-
3
Press the ceiling hook against the dot. The screw part of the hook goes into the ceiling and the hook hangs down. Lightly tap the hook with the hammer to make a small hole in the ceiling. Don't hammer so hard that you bend the hook.
-
4
Twist the hook so the screw cuts into the ceiling. Keep turning the hook until the screw is all the way in the ceiling. Lightly tug on the hook to ensure it's sturdy.
-
5
Hang the bed canopy on the hook using the ring attached at the top.

Tips & Warnings
Mosquito nets without rings attached are more difficult to hang. Use four ceiling hooks, one for each corner of the bed, and tie string to the net to make loops. Place the loops over the hooks to drape the net around the bed.
Make your own bed nets, using tulle or mosquito netting. Measure from the ceiling to the floor of the room to determine how much material you will need. Sew the material around a small hula hoop and hang it with string.
Hang curtain rods above the bed, one for each side of the bed. Hang tulle material to the rods so they can move. Close the curtain-like tulle at night and keep it open during the day. This design will not keep out mosquitoes because the top of the curtains are open.
Mosquito nets only keep out bugs if they completely cover the crib or bed.
Cats love to climb bed nets.
