How to Troubleshoot an F45WJ26H Damper Assembly
The Frigidaire F45WJ26H uses a damper to control the airflow from the refrigerator's freezer into its fresh food compartment. If the damper is not working properly, the cold air of the freezer leaks into the fresh food compartment and spoils the food. The damper is located inside the control housing. If this stops working properly, you can troubleshoot the problem yourself with little hassle and minimal knowledge of the unit. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Open the refrigerator door, and remove the screws holding the control panel to the top of the refrigerator's food compartment.
-
2
Pull the control panel out of the top of the compartment. This will give you access to the inner components of the damper assembly.
-
-
3
Look over the wiring harness attached to the damper assembly. This is plugged into the damper and has wires coming out of it. Make sure that the wiring harness is plugged into the connector. Plug it in if the wiring harness has come out.
-
4
Check the damper assembly to make sure it is not stuck. A small door is on the top of the damper to allow the cold air in from the freezer.
-
5
Use your finger to try to open the damper. If the door will not open, the damper may be broken. Replace the damper if needed.
-
6
Put the assembly back together, and hang it back onto the top of the food compartment. Replace the screws on the control panel to keep it secure.
