How to Make a THX Trailer
THX is the brand of a high-quality audio and video standard for films, home theater, movie theaters, computer speakers, gaming systems and car audio. The THX is an industrial standard for how the audio and video is output, and there are very specific parameters and technology to which the producer must adhere to be certified THX. A THX trailer is a short film that showcases the capabilities of THX technology. These trailers are often shown during the previews for THX content.

Write the script for the trailer. Make sure the script allows THX technology to be showcased. For example, a conversation in a kitchen hardly showcases what THX is capable of. An intense sci-fi action scene, with lots of unique sounds and a lively environment, is best.

Plan the production. Hire the crew and actors. Scout locations. Prepare props, costumes and all other production elements. Hire a certified THX consultant. This will ensure that the proper equipment is used --- and used correctly --- to give you the highest quality sound. THX recommends production equipment. This equipment changes as technology does, so consult the THX technician. THX has very rigorous standards of what can be called THX, so hiring a certified consultant ensures that the production is up to standard.

Shoot the trailer.

Edit the trailer. A well-equipped editing suite with THX-certified gear is required. This is not something that can be edited with a home computer. A THX-certified sound technician is required to edit the project, otherwise it cannot be labeled as THX. Work with the technician and editor to create the trailer.

Output the THX trailer. This exact method will depend on the intended medium. For home theater, Blu-ray is most often used.
