How to Make a Tiny Dog Sweater From Socks
Making a tiny dog sweater from a sock is a creative way to keep your pet cozy and warm. Because of their small stature, tiny dogs are especially vulnerable to brisk outdoor weather or drafty indoor rooms, according to Dog and Kennel. The trick to crafting a dog sweater out of a sock is knowing where and how to make cuts with your scissors. Once you have the hang of the sweater-making process, select from a variety of large, colorful socks when making additional doggy wear, to give your pet a sense of fashion.

1
Place a large, clean sock onto a flat surface. Adjust the sock so it looks like a letter "J" -- with the bottom edge facing you.
-
2
Cut off the top 2-inches of the sock -- the area with the elastic. Discard the 2-inch section.
-
-
3
Fold the heel over 2-inches onto itself. Slice 1 to 1 1/2 inches into the folded heel at center with a pair of sharp scissors. Unfold the heel. The heel now has two slits. The dog's legs will fit through the slits at this point, once the sweater is on.
-
4
Cut off the toe of the sock at the seam. Fold the flat edge of the toe piece 1 1/2 inches over itself. Slice 1-inch into the folded edge at center. Unfold the edge. The toe piece now has two slits. The toe piece will now act as a hat for your tiny dog. The dog's ears will fit through the slits.
-
5
Slide the top of the sock sweater over the dog's head and neck. Pull its front two legs through the respective slits from the hole you cut in the heel.
-
6
Push the sock open around the body -- the midsection -- of the dog. Slide the toe piece -- the hat -- onto the head of the dog. Fit its ears through the slits in the hat.
