How to Make Trim in Aperture

Aperture is a professional photography application designed by Apple. Among other things, you can use the Aperture software to manage your photo and video clip library, share your photos and videos with friends and edit your photos and videos. One of the editing features at your disposal is the ability to attach audio clips to still images. The trim tool in Aperture has two functions. It can either be used to trim an audio clip you have attached to a photo or trim a video clip.

Instructions

  1. Trim an Audio Clip in a Slideshow

      Launch the Aperture application. Go to the "Library" tab. Select the photos you would like to use in your slide show. Open the File Box drop-down menu. Select "Slideshow." Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your slide show.

      Click the music note icon in the lower right corner to open the audio browser.

      Open the source drop-down menu. Select the source, such as the iTunes Library, of the audio clip you want to attach to a photo in your slide show. Click on the audio clip you want and drag it over to the photo you want to attach it to. The green bar that appears at the bottom of photo in the browser is the audio clip attachment.

      Slide the left edge of the green bar to the beginning of the audio you want to use. Slide the right edge of the green bar to the end point of the audio you want to use.

    Trim an Audio Clip in the View Window

      Launch the Aperture application. Go to the library tab. Select the photo that contains the audio attachment you want to trim. The photo will appear in the browser along the bottom edge of the screen.

      Double-click on the audio clip in the browser to select it. The controls for the audio clip will appear in the viewer window. Click the "Play" button to listen to the audio clip

      Click the "Trim" button in the viewer to make the trim controls appear.

      Slide the yellow bar, located on the left side of the trim controls, to the beginning of the audio you want to use. Slide the yellow bar, located on the right side of the trim controls, to the end point of the audio you want to use.

      Click "Trim."

    Trim Video

      Launch the Aperture application. Go to the library tab. Select the video clip you want to trim.

      Double-click on the video clip in the browser located on the bottom of the window to open it in the viewer.

      Click the arrow next to the pinwheel icon in the play controls. Select "Trim" from the menu. The trim controls will appear.

      Slide the yellow bar, located on the left side of the trim controls, to the beginning of the video you want to use. Slide the yellow bar, located on the right side of the trim controls, to the end point of the video you want to use.
