How to Trim Facial Hair for a Balbo
A Balbo is a similar facial hair style to a Van Dyck, a variation of what is commonly referred to as a "goatee." In both the Van Dyck and the Balbo, the mustache and the chin piece, or goatee, are unconnected. Depending on the thickness and speed of growth, your beard can go from simple stubble to a Balbo in about two weeks. Every couple of days, and especially before important dates or meetings, you will need to trim the hair along even lines with your trimmer and scissors. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Grow out your beard to a desired length, most likely over a period of several weeks.
-
2
Thin the hair on your cheeks with a single-line beard trimmer. This will facilitate and alleviate the inevitable clogging of the straight razor.
-
-
3
Heat your face with a hot, wet towel. Then lather your cheeks with shave cream. Be sure to leave your chin and mustache free of lather.
-
4
Shave your cheeks, with a razor, avoiding the chin and mustache.
-
5
Use a single-line beard trimmer to shape the hair on your chin, clearing the area between the hair of the mustache and chin. The upper line of your chin, the goatee, may be shaped into a straight line, curve or wave, depending on your preference.
