Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ski Clothing
  • Telemark Ski Equipment
  1. Step 1

Find a suitable jump. The best jumps on which to learn the tele-heli are ones that slope uphill on the takeoff and have gently sloped landings.

  2. Step 2

Gain some speed and hit the jump.

  3. Step 3

Use your calves to jump at takeoff. Remember you are on telemark skis and have free heels.

  4. Step 4

Rotate your head and look in the direction you will be spinning as you take off.

  5. Step 5

Throw your arms in the direction of your spin while in the air.

  6. Step 6

Rotate 360 degrees and then try to lean a little forward while landing on both skis, compressing your legs to absorb the impact.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have trouble rotating all the way around, tuck your chin into your leading shoulder, all the while looking in the direction you're spinning.
  • Try the teli-heli without poles if they get in the way.
  • The longer the skis, the longer it will take to rotate.
  • Ski jumping is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
