So you have a basic Lego set of colored bricks. Now what?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lego Idea Book
  • Large Blue Lego Base Plates
  • Lego Build-Your-Own Playmats
  • Lego Classic Buckets
  • Lego Extra Large Gray Base Plates
  • Lego Road Plates
  • Lego Town Folk Sets
  • Legos
  1. Step 1

Look for Lego's Extra Large Gray Base Plate ($10) or the Large Blue Base Plate ($6). These are excellent for forming a solid base for large building projects.

  2. Step 2

Add a little life to your Lego collection with the Town Folk set ($6), which includes a fire fighter, pizza chef, construction worker, cat, bicycle and jack hammer.

  3. Step 3

Create road systems with Road Plates ($7 for two), or create an entire community with the Build-Your-Own Playmats ($15 to $40), which feature landscape-printed foam mats that can be assembled in many combinations.

  4. Step 4

Get the Lego Classic Bucket ($10) if you just want more bricks. This set comes with 400 pieces.

  5. Step 5

Check out the Lego Idea Book ($5) for directions and pictures of all the fun things you can make.

on 11/22/2005 Look for lightly used Legos at thrift stores and yard sales. You can build up a huge collection for less money this way. Ebay is also a great place to buy large assortments of mixed Legos.
