How to Format a Chart Legend in PowerPoint

You may want to change the location or the way a chart legend looks on any of the charts you create in PowerPoint.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Double-click anywhere in the chart in PowerPoint to open Microsoft Graph.

  2. Step 2

    Double-click on the legend.

  3. Step 3

    Format the legend and change its location using the four tabs in the Format Legend window. You can change the font, size, and style of the legend text and move it to different places around the chart. You can also change the legend border or place a background color or pattern behind the legend.

  4. Step 4

    Click OK to view your changes and return to the slide.

Tips & Warnings
  • Double-click the chart to reopen Microsoft Graph.
