How to Select a Slide Layout in PowerPoint

You can change the layout of a PowerPoint slide anytime during the design process. A layout is the basic arrangement of objects (text, chart, title, bulleted list, picture, and so on) on the slide.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Go to the slide whose format you want to change.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the Format menu and select Slide Layout.

  3. Step 3

    Select the layout you want to use and click the Reapply button.

  4. Step 4

    Enter the slide content or reformat it accordingly.

Tips & Warnings
  • A template is different from a layout. The template provides a background (lines, colors, shading boxes, and so on) for the slide's content. Any layout can be applied to any template.
