Things You'll Need:
- Electronic Measurers
-
Step 1
Buy a reputable brand. Stanley makes one called the IntelliMeasure Laser Ultrasonic Estimator. Skil/Bosch makes one called the Bosch Ultrasonic Rangefinder.
-
Step 2
Look for features such as digital readout, narrow beam (to make it easier to use in a furnished room), and metric capabilities. Also look for a model that calculates square footage so you don't have to.
-
Step 3
Expect to pay between $35 and $50, depending on the manufacturer.
-
Step 4
Watch for sales. Sears and many hardware stores carry electronic measurers. You can buy one online from some manufacturers or at places that sell power tools for home use.
-
Step 5
Ask your salesperson about the store's return policy and available warranties.
-
Step 6
Allow at least two weeks for delivery if you are buying the product online or mail-ordering it.
