Tweak UI is part of Microsoft's free PowerToys package for Windows 95 and should be included with Windows 98, although not all CDs seem to have it. You can use Tweak UI to easily change settings that would normally require using the Windows Registry. It's simple to use, but Microsoft does not provide technical support for it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tweak UI
  1. Step 1

If you have Windows 95, go to the Microsoft download site at microsoft.com.

  2. Step 2

Or, also if you have Windows 95, go to a third-party download site for faster access and downloading. However, expect to find dead links from many third-party sites, as Microsoft has removed direct download of Tweak UI.

  3. Step 3

If you have Windows 98, find Tweak UI on your Windows 98 CD under Tools/Reskit/Powertoy/Tweakui.inf.

  4. Step 4

Follow instructions for download and installation.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must download the entire PowerToys package.
  • Tweak UI automatically installs as a control panel.
  • For instructions on using Tweak UI once you have it, see "How to Use Tweak UI to Customize Your Computer" in Related eHows.
  • The Microsoft PowerToys download only works on computers running Windows 95 OSR2. It will not work on computers running Windows 98 or other versions of Windows 95.
