  1. Step 1

Use a search engine, such as Google or Yahoo!, to locate holiday Web graphics. Use keywords like "Christmas," "Hanukkah" (watch for spelling variations), "Kwanzaa," "holidays" or "festive."

  2. Step 2

Check your clip art files for holiday clip art. You can customize the graphics to fit your Web page by recoloring or resizing them.

  3. Step 3

Add holiday sidebars to the top, bottom or sides of your Web page. A holiday bar, such as a long garland decorated with lights, adds holiday style without cluttering your page.

  4. Step 4

Use a paint program to add holiday accents, such as ornaments, lights or snow accents, to your logo.

  5. Step 5

Consider changing the color scheme of your Web page for the holidays. For example, if your Web page is normally blue and yellow, using a festive green, red and white color scheme adds holiday charm to your Web page.

  6. Step 6

Look at other pages for ideas on holiday accents. Many major retailers and portals add holiday accents and are a wealth of ideas.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be subtle in your holiday accents. Bright, glaring animations or total site overhauls in a Christmas theme confuse visitors and may turn them away.
  • Keep your Web page simple and uncluttered.
  • Minimize clip art and animation. Clip art will take up added space on your site and make the site load slowly.
  • Obtain permission before using any unlicensed or copyrighted clip art.
  • Do not use images from another Web page without permission from the owner of the site.
