Create a Gift Basket for a Bicyclist

While the bike is the biggest piece of equipment for cycling, a lot of the extras can make for a good riding experience. A gift basket of accessories can be fun to put together and a pleasure for any cyclist to receive.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Consider what accessories your cyclist doesn't have or might need to replace.

  2. Step 2

Think in terms of packages of things that can be useful: water bottle and cage, bike flat kit, rain gear, headlight packages, gloves, helmets, rack and packs. Some of the accessories come in a wide range of styles and colors.

  3. Step 3

Look into things that would make good additions to the bike itself: a new saddle, fenders, handlebar extensions. If you're adding to the bike, be sure the components you buy will fit the style and size of the bike the cyclist owns.

  4. Step 4

Use your imagination when putting the package together: Find cycling magazines to use as wrapping paper, or surprise the cyclist by getting her bike outfitted at the shop without her knowing about it.

  5. Step 5

Consider using one of the accessories as a gift basket. For instance, put a bunch of smaller items in a helmet, in a bike bag or in a pair of gloves. If you use a basket, think about arranging the items like a bouquet.

Tips & Warnings
  • For picky cyclists, consider buying one present, such as a bike bag, and putting a gift certificate in it so they can pick out their own accessories.
  • Subscriptions to cycling magazines also make great gifts.
