  3. Step 3

Assess the conditions under which the clothes will most likely be worn. Will it be hot, cold, wet, dry or windy?

Tips & Warnings
  • For any outfit, make sure the layers of clothing are not heavy. Heavy clothes will restrict the golf swing.
  • For cold conditions select: slacks, long-sleeved, collared shirts or turtlenecks.
  • For wet conditions select: waterproof shoes, waterproof/wind pullover jacket, or rain pants. An umbrella is also a good idea.
  • For warm conditions select: khaki shorts and light, short-sleeved, collared shirts, and a straw hat. Breathable clothes are preferred.
  • Hats are good for all conditions. Straw hats are good for warm conditions and protection. Baseball hats are good to keep the rain out of one's face and to stay dry.
  • Heavy articles of clothing may restrict movement.

on 5/21/2009 Thanks for the great suggestions in this article - really good guidelines to follow. I've found some great golf clothes at http://www.iznadgolf.com that my husband just loved - the golf rain gear was his favorite and it makes a great gift because it isn't necessarily the first thing people think of, but it's really useful!
