How to Outfit a Livestock Grooming Box

Start a basic grooming box to take with you to shows. Add items as needed.

        Use a large, heavy-duty plastic box. A hinged lid with a latch that allows use of a lock is the best.

        Add bathing supplies for your animal - shampoo, cleaner, brush, comb, dryer, clippers, scissors, toenail clippers, rasp, hoof pick, hair spray, clipper oil.

        Include extras such as costume, glitter, markers and a sign with your name and club name.

        Pack show equipment - stick, collar, leash.

        Add rain suit and rubber boots to keep you dry during bathing.

        Include feeding equipment - dishes, bowls, buckets, feed pans.

        Remember an emergency kit - "stop bleed" for nicks, Band-Aids, vet wrap.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Design your box to fit your needs. Store equipment in the box, and you will always be ready to go.

    • Keep box locked when not in use.
