Things You'll Need:
- Hand lotion, dishwashing liquid or olive oil
-
Step 1
Soak your hand in ice-cold water if it is swollen. Wait 5 to 10 minutes for the swelling to recede.
-
Step 2
Apply lubricant around the ring and up the length of your finger. Hand lotion, dishwashing liquid or olive oil will do the trick.
-
Step 3
Twist the ring as you slowly work it up and over the knuckle. You may need to apply some force to get it over the first knuckle. Make sure to twist, not tug.
-
Step 4
If the ring still won't budge, visit a doctor to have it removed.

on 5/11/2009 OMG - It REALLY works! I had my doubts, but I did exactly what everyone said - 1) slip floss under the ring (use double or triple or quadruple stands - 1

on 5/3/2009 Believe it or not, I used Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion that come in a tube, not a bottle. My ring was stuck on my finger for 2 months. I did every, the windex trick did not work for me. I started to get a chemical burn from all the things I was trying. I bought aveeno lotion in desperation to just try anything new to get this ring off! Well, to my surprise, my ring moved...I mean actually move up my finger a bit!!!! So, I kept pulling little by little adding more lotion as I went. The lotion was slippery enough to make the ring slide, but also gave you the ability to hold onto the ring without sliding off!! I finally was able to get it up to my knuckle, and worked and worked and finally it came off. It hurt a little, but not as bad as I thought it would!! My finger is still indented where the ring was. Don't give up, there is something out there that will work. I will NEVER p...

on 4/14/2009 Windex TOTALLY WORKS!!! I thought my finger might have been too far gone for it to work. It had gotten swollen over night as my newly re-sized wedding band was choking my poor ring finger. My finger looked like a sausage and I was worried I was gonna hafta wake up my husband to drive me the hospital. But I gave Windex a shot and 5 to 6 squirts later--I'm able to type this sans wedding band choke hold! The finger is still a little swollen, but I had to let others know to try the Windex. It may save your life. Cheers!

on 1/23/2009 I didn't wear my rings during my first pregnancy because I had a lot of water retention. When I had my baby, though I had gained 30 lbs I made the mistake of putting them back on. They got stuck. I didn't lose a pound and now two years later I want to get pregnant again. The idea of going through more weight gain and more swelling during the pregnancy and wearing my wedding band and engagement ring which already hurt, was literally making me panic. I woke up many nights hyperventilating at the idea of it, I'm serious. So I tried:
1-5 minutes with my hand over my head;
2-some minutes with my hand in icy water until numb;
3-Windex on that finger, some careful twisting and pain, and it was out in a second.
4-repeated #3 for the wedding band that was slightly smaller and cutting through my skin. It hurt a lot, but now I have no reason to panic and be a happy preggo!! Yay!

on 1/20/2009 windex definitely works it just takes a minute or two and you really have to squeeze the ring off it is a painful experience but it comes of after a while just make sure you put an ice pack or something on it for a few minutes before the windex or 409 to reduce a little bit of the swelling
