Step 1
Place your skis on the snow, perpendicular to the hill's slope.

Tap your downhill boot with a pole to remove caked snow from its bottom. Scrape it with the pointy end of the pole if necessary.

Step 3
Step gently into the binding of your downhill ski, until you hear the binding snap into place.

Step 4
Keep the ski perpendicular to the fall line or tip your ski into the hill so the edge aids your balance.

Step 5
Remove excess snow from the other boot and put it on its ski.

Step 6
Put the wrist straps of your poles back on.

Step 7
Resume skiing.

on 6/30/2006 If both of your skis are still on and you have some space around you, roll over on your stomach facing up the hill. Put your skis like you would a snowplow (only the backs of the skis are together and facing downhill), and push yourself back up. It is great for beginners and people looking for an easy way to get up.

on 11/22/2005 If both of your skis are still on after a fall, don't try to push yourself up with your poles. Very few people I know can do this, so unless you're sure you can, don't try. Take the downhill ski off, get up, and push the ski back on.
