How to Make Crock-Pot Stroganoff

This homey, hearty dish is great over noodles, rice or potatoes. Serves six.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 can condensed cream of celery soup
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. fresh, sliced mushrooms
  • 2 medium onions - sliced
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1/4 tsp. sweet paprika
  • pepper to taste
  • salt to taste

  1. Step 1

    Brown ground beef in a skillet and drain fat.

  2. Step 2

    Add onions and garlic. Stir.

  3. Step 3

    Add flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Mix well.

  4. Step 4

    Stir in undiluted soup. Mix well.

  5. Step 5

    Pour mixture into Crock-Pot.

  6. Step 6

    Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, adding mushrooms 30 minutes before dish is done cooking.

  7. Step 7

    Add sour cream just before serving.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use reduced-fat sour cream to make the dish a little lighter.
  • Try tossing accompanying noodles with caraway seeds.
  • There is such a thing as "hot" paprika - be careful when you buy it. To add a little kick to the dish, use a small pinch of cayenne.
  • Try adding 1/4 teaspoon of dried dill to the beef.
