How to Make Oven-Roasted Spare Ribs

Ribs are finger-lickin' good anytime. Serves 4. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauces
  • saucepans
  • 1/2 c. regular or nonalcoholic beer
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustards

  • 3/4 c. chili sauce
  • 2 1/2 to 3 lbs. country-style pork ribs

Instructions

      Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

      Put ribs, bone side up, in a shallow roasting pan. Bake 1 hour.

      Cook onion and garlic in hot oil in a medium-size saucepan until tender.

      Stir in chili sauce, beer, honey, Worcestershire sauce and dry mustard. Bring to a boil.

      Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes.

      Drain fat from the roasting pan and turn meaty side of ribs up.

      Spoon some sauce over the ribs. Bake, covered, for 45 to 60 minutes, or until tender. Baste ribs often with sauce.

      Serve ribs with any sauce left over.

    If you are looking for tender ribs the above recipe will work fine, but add: 1/4 c. wine vinegar, 2 small cloves of garlic. Lower the oven to 200 degrees & cook for 3 hr. - then on the grill with your barbecue sauce for 10 min. or so.
